The Best Scoring Sunscreens

Now that it is starting to get consistently warmer and virtual classrooms are slowing down, it's time to lather up and play outside! Trust me, we have all earned this outside time.
But, May is also Skin Cancer Awareness Month.
Sunscreen us the most effective way to take care of our skin. Period.
Over the course of the last few years, we continue to hear more and more about the negative impacts chemical sunscreen has on our health. The obvious next question is, 'okay, so which sunscreen should I be using?' There are so many different sunscreens on the market, the entire process can be overwhelming.
That's why I am here to help.
First, why use a physical or mineral sunscreen over chemical?
I will make this super short and sweet.

Chemical sunscreen is applied and absorbed into the body. The chemical than redistributes the UV rays as our skin is exposed to it. Science is now showing that the chemicals used in chemical sunscreen have significant health impacts - especially for anyone vulnerable such as children, pregnant women and any individual with underlying conditions.
Physical or Mineral sunscreen stays on the skin's surface so the UVB and UVA rays are deflected off the skin. This is a physical barrier between UV rays and your skin.
The list of sunscreens come directly off the Environmental Working Group's "2020 Guide to Sunscreens." The EWG is a nonprofit organization that specializes in research and advocacy in the areas of agricultural subsidies, toxic chemicals, drinking water pollutants and corporate accountability.
Best Scoring Kids Sunscreen
Note: the only thing that differentiates "children," and "kids" sunscreen from adults is marketing. If a sunscreen is rated safely, it is appropriate to use on both kids and adults. Don't get mislead by marketing!
"Parents should know the FDA does not set special criteria or additional requirements for sunscreen and body care products marketed to children. EWG has not identified any systematic differences between the types of products marketed to children and to the general population" - Environmental Working Group
