This update is coming at you from the comfort of our bed, under the covers, watching Trolls and Moana with Kleenex up our nostrils and hot tea in our (my) hand. It's true, the first wave of cold season has hit the Hill household and I am not ashamed to admit that Hudson is handling it best. Despite being a bit under the weather, we have had an incredibly promising and motivating week.
This little piggy went to market
Hudson is now in the 17th percentile for weight and 34th percentile for height! He now weighs 8.65 Kgs (19.07 pounds) and is 75 cm (29.53 inches) tall. The doctors could not be more excited about his overall growth. We have used the tube the past couple of nights to push fluids (think water and a special juice called Neocate) to help Hudson battle this cold but other than that, he has been completely tube free and loving it!
Next week's labs will determine the next course of action. If the lab results are stable, than our blood draws and clinic visits will be further apart - giving us more freedom to LIVE LIFE. If there are any abnormalities in the labs, we will continue with our current schedule (visiting clinic every other week and doing weekly blood draws). Fingers crossed that labs are stable.
Tis the season
I was able to successfully drag Morgan and Hudson to a pumpkin farm where we drank apple cider, looked at the farm animals, ate corn and of course, went pumpkin picking.
Hudson loved being on the farm, watching the animals and socializing with all of the people. We applied a very scientific method of choosing a pumpkin this year: whatever pumpkin Hudson could hold himself up on was the one we would take home. Mission accomplished.
I like to move it, move it
We meet with an Occupational Therapist every other week to measure Hudson's progress and work on various physical skills for Hudson.
He's thriving and continues to surprise the OT's week over week. Hudson currently does a scoot/push backwards move thing and is so close to having everything "click" and start crawling. Recently, he has shown more interest in pulling himself up on things and trying to stand.
I have a feeling that standing independently and walking will happen around the same time as crawling. I guess that means goodbye decorative ceramics and hello baby proofing.
For those of you writing a letter for Hudson's birthday, just a friendly reminder that there are 9 days left! That should give you a couple more days of procrastination but please don't forget! We're trying to have all of them delivered by his birthday (Friday, Oct. 27th) so we can seal up the box! Remember to sign and seal what you send! Email me (email@example.com) if you have any questions.
We are looking forward to having some family fly into Seattle for Hudson's first birthday on October 27th and then dressing up for Hudson's first REAL Halloween (last year doesn't count). Until those two events, our focus will be to continue to drink fluids, rest and work on those sweet scoot/crawl moves Hudson has. We hope everyone a wonderful rest of the week!
